WAWood: can you suggest my next move or direct me to someone else? Thanks.

@Sinned3

Personal Opinion ...

I don't know of any reasonable solution except to back out of the whole mess and / or start over (reload Windows).

I cannot speak for @WAWood though I do agree with the his assessment that Windows 2004 might be "not quite ready" for many of us.

Add the PC Mover bits and Yeah, it is perhaps a real mess.

The primary issue might (emphasis on might) be the result of the PC mover events.  IF that is the case, there is naught we can do now about anything that was done to the File System.

If the result is due to the version of Windows 2004 that is on the system, you might be able to back out of that.  I've not done it , I don't have Windows 2004 yet , and honestly, it might not do any good anyway.

Is it a combination?  Maybe.

Is it a bug?  Possibly, though in this situation, there is no way to be certain.

If you cannot back out, cannot find a solution, and cannot do anything else, you might need to consider starting over.

Reloading Windows to extract yourself from your current situation is a Separate subject.

I encourage you to start a new thread .

Why?

I am not prepared to lead you through a rebuild.  Not unwilling, mind you; I am not prepared to take on the task.

This could be simple - considering the tangle, I might easily miss something.

This could be an insurmountable tangled mess, I would not be surprised but I do not know whether that is the case.

What else?

Not sure - I have exhausted what little I know about the situation.

Okay. It makes sense to me to start over.

So can I use HP Recovery Manger to return my new PC back to how I received it, and  then use "EaseUS Todo PCTrans" to transfer all  my  old  PC apps and data?

And will that return my PC to the previous Windows version,  so as to get rid of the 2004 version?
