Change my Hard Disk

Hello I have a HP Desktop 500-415nv and think of changing the hard disk t a new SSD one.

What I would like to know is how will I be able to upgrade to windows 10 as I have done in the past with the old disk hen first started the offer of windows.

Hi,

You can do a clean install Windows 10 on new SSD given you only use the same version/edition of the existing Windows 10. You won't need to activate.

If the current disk-drive was manufactured by SEAGATE or WESTERN DIGITAL,

access www.seagate.com or www.wdc.com and look for "disk-cloning" software.

The Seagate software can be used to "clone" from a SEAGATE drive to any SSD drive.

The WD Corporation software can be used to "clone" from a WESTERN DIGITAL drive to any SSD drive.

The "new" disk-drive does not need to be the same size as the old drive.

Windows 10 will recognize that your hardware is "mostly" unchanged, and will not need to be "activated" again.

Dear Provot as I am not an expert in the software of computers I would like to ask you the following:

I have saved the windows 10 from the link you gave me in an external USB stick.

When the technician will come and add the blank new ssd disk how will I be able to reinstall windows 10 as no program ill be installed.

Will my usb be bootable?

I hope that you _exactly_ followed the instructions to download the software and to directly write it to a USB stick.

If you did, then your USB stick will be bootable.

Turn your computer off.

Connect the USB stick to your computer.

Turn your computer on, and immediately look for a message like "press <blah> to enter change boot devices".

Press the <blah> key.

Select the USB stick as the "boot" device.

Windows will be installed.
