How can I update my bios to allow booting from a USB Flash drive. My bios is American Megatrends 6.07, 5/4/2011 and the only options are CD, Hard Drive, floppy. Is there a way to change this? In testing the Windows 10 Repair Disc I created, my system froze at the 'choose keyboard layout' blue screen. I could not use the usb mouse or usb keyboard. As a result, I had to recover my system back to windows 7 using my Norton Ghost recovery disk and the backups I had made before the downloading windows 10.

After opening the bios and clicking the default hard drive, I found that I had choices including the USB Flash drive that I had just pugged in before rebooting. This answered my question. Thanks to all for their input. It was not necessary to flash the bios after all.

@Madpuppy, welcome to the forum.
Here is the Software and Driver Downloads for the computer. There are two BIOS updates listed. The 6.70 Rev. A states the following in the Details section:
Version 6.07 Rev. A
Fix and enhancements
- Updates the Video BIOS to properly size the display on the screen.
- Improves compatibility with FreeDOS.
- Updates Vision Diagnostics on systems with older BIOS revisions.
- Resolves an issue with detecting the Samsung 750GB hard disk drive after resuming from hibernate mode.
- Resolves issue that occurs when booting from USB optical drives.
- Resolves issue that occurs when resuming from hibernate mode on systems with 4GB memory or higher.
I am not certain that the fact that it resolves issues when booting from USB optical drives means that it will boot from USB thumb drives or not, but it is worth a try. Just be extremely careful with the flash. If it fails you have a great boat anchor.
