Hi I really need help. I had a BIOS update last night after I restarted the computer all I get is a black screen with 8 beeps. I tried hard reseting my computer even removing and reseating the COMS with no help. I tried doing a BIOS recovery using the Windows and B key but it wont work not sure if I am doing something wrong or my board does not support that key function to get into the BIOS Recovery. Please help!

I would like to take a moment and thank you for using this forum, it is a great place to find answers. 

 

As I understand the computer isn't turning on after the BIOS update,

No worries, as I'll be glad to help you, that said, I'll need a few more details to dissect your concern & provide an accurate solution: 

Have you attempted to recover the BIOS using the HP Article?

 

If not, here's what HP recommends you do:

 

When you upgrade the BIOS on your PC, a copy of the previous BIOS version is stored in the HP_TOOLS partition of your hard drive. Many HP computers have an emergency BIOS recovery feature that allows you to recover and install the last known good version of the BIOS from the hard drive, as long as the hard drive remains functional. This emergency recovery feature is separate from the BIOS and is designed to work in the event of a catastrophic BIOS failure.

To recover an earlier version of the BIOS on your PC:

  1. Turn off the computer.

  2. With the computer off, press and hold the Windows logo key  and the B key at the same time.

  3. Still pressing those keys, press and hold down the Power button on the computer for 2 to 3 seconds, and then release the Power button but continue to hold the Windows and B keys until the BIOS update screen is displayed or until you hear a beeping sound (usually 8 beeps).

(By the end of this article all the issues should be resolved)

 

And If you've already done the above steps and yet the issue persists, Please Contact HP to set up a repair/replacement service order:

HP Support can be reached by clicking on the following link:  

* Open link:  www.hp.com/contacthp/

* Enter Product number or select to auto detect

* Scroll down to "Still need help? Complete the form to select your contact options"

* Scroll down and click on HP contact options - click on Get a Case & phone number.

 

They will be happy to assist you immediately. 

If the unit is under warranty repair services under the manufacturer's warranty will be free of charge.

Hi I have tried the steps to recover my bios using the steps giving no go nothing happens. As for repair or replacement the computer is 3 years out of warrenty. Due to no warrenty and how much it will cost to replace the motherboard i am going to purchase a new HP computer. But thank you for your help.
