Hi @1100Z7X,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
Thanks for the update. You’re doing all the right things so far. Since your laptop shows a blue screen, can’t reach recovery, and doesn’t detect your bootable USB, let’s go step-by-step to fix this:
Step 1: Recreate the Bootable USB (Just to Be Sure)
Sometimes the USB isn’t created properly. Use the official HP Cloud Recovery tool:
- On another working PC, go to:
👉 HP Consumer PCs - Using the HP Cloud Recovery Tool in Windows 11 and 10 | HP® Support - Download the Media Creation Tool and run it.
- Choose “Create installation media (USB flash drive)”.
- Use a USB drive with at least 32 GB, formatted as FAT32.
Step 2: Check BIOS Settings on Your Laptop
- Power on your laptop and press Esc, F9, or F10 repeatedly to enter the Startup Menu or BIOS.
- In BIOS:
- Enable USB Boot.
- Disable Secure Boot (temporarily).
- Enable Legacy Boot (if available).
- Set the USB drive as the first boot device.
- Save changes and exit.
💡 If your USB is not showing up, try plugging it into a different USB port, preferably a USB 2.0 port (black, not blue).
Step 3: Test the USB on Another Computer
- Plug the USB into another PC and see if it boots.
- If it does, the USB is fine — the issue is with your laptop’s BIOS or USB port.
- If it doesn’t, recreate the USB using the steps above.
Step 4: Use HP Diagnostics (Optional)
If your laptop is an HP, press F2 or Esc > F2 at startup to run HP Hardware Diagnostics. This can help rule out hardware issues.
I hope this helps.
Take care, and have an amazing day!
