I have just completed a recovery after a hard disk failure. Took me a week by the time I had reinstalled all of my applications and data backups. The original recovery disk set was created a decade ago. This meant that, even thouh the recovery usinh a new HDD was successful, the OS files were ancient so I had to do an upgrade after the event.

So what I want to do now is to create a new set of recovery disks for the newly updated system.

My question is will this just back up the new OS or will the recovery file also backup the applications too (which would take an army of recovery disks) or will it just backup the old factory image and ignore the OS updates (ehich would make it a waste of time because I already have that).

How does this work?

Thanks

The recovery system is there to reinstall the computer, as on the first day.
It is generally not possible to create several!
There is another option, but I think it will cause the same problems!

The best option, if you want to be able to reinstall a computer at a specific time, with new updates, your installed programs etc, and to use special software, which will create a complete image of your hard drive, which you can then reinstall

Then it's not really much use is it? Might as well not bother. If you have a have disk failure you should just put a new hard disk in the machine, grab an ISO, unpack it to a USB and boot from it. Why would you need a recovery disk set that takes you back to the first day you use  the machine. Pointless.

so if ; think again ..
In many cases it may be necessary to be able to revert to the factory settings.
The first, just if you sell it!
Then, sometimes, if there is a problem, it will check if the computer, works fine again if there is nothing new on it.
After many updates, installation, uninstallation, change of drivers, the system may become unstable, the best option may be to reinstall it from scratch!
There are several advantages, but indeed, it can be a disadvantage, especially for windows updates.
But unfortunately as I indicated there are possible options
So the best is to have your factory recovery kit, and what we call a ghost / disk image!
