HP ENVY Desktop - 795-0050

Have an HP Envy Desktop 795-050, came with Win10 in 2019, subsequently upgraded to Win11. At powerup comes up with a blue screen error message - "CMOS checksum invalid. The CMOS will reset to default config... please check the BIOS setup options to see if they change."  Hitting ENTER takes me to sign-in. What should I do? (an older user with limited knowledge.) I was told I need to update the BIOS, so I looked (using HP Assistant) but HP's site only supports my pc for Win10, not Win11! So no updated BIOS available. Appreciate help! Thank you.

@SMFairfield,

Please go to the link I provided: HP ENVY Desktop - 795-0050 Software and Driver Downloads | HP® Customer Support, select Windows 10 and Windows 10 (64-bit) as shown below:

Now click on "Submit" and you'll see this:

Do not click on "Detect my drivers", but click on "All drivers" instead, then click on "BIOS (1)":

And then click on "Download" and click on "No thanks, I will download and install manually" - in other words, forget about "HP Support Solutions":

This will download:

And follow HP's instructions:

Please try this first, if this doesn't work, we'll have to create a BIOS flash drive.

@SMFairfield,

Welcome to our peer-to-peer HP Community Forum!

Btw, the most recent BIOS update (F.50 Rev.A) HP released for your desktop was on May 16th of this year, which is very recent.  Make sure you updated your BIOS to this version:

Windows 11 should run just fine on your desktop, as you got an 8th-gen Intel processor installed, which are Windows 11 supported processors.

Could you please provide the appropriate link to the specific web page? I went through the process and the HP Support site and they insist that they will only support updates compatible with  Win10 OS  for my machine.  NOTHING available for Win11!

@SMFairfield,

I already provided the BIOS download link in my previous post.

It will work, whether you have Windows 10 or 11 installed.

So I did go to that link you had provided yesterday and HP asked me to install HP Support Solutions, which I did, yesterday. Then it went into an iterative loop, saying something went wrong, and again asking me to install Support Solutions. Which I did try again, today. When it went to "Please wait while we find your drivers " and keeps "working". No results (drivers/BIOS) listing shows. That is why I was wondering if there is another (direct) way to get that specific BIOS.

NonSequitur777 - Thank you a million times over! Not only for your solution but also for your patience with me and my limited knowledge/skills. My BIOS update was done without a glitch. BTW, HP should consider adding to their Support page a prominent note clarifying that recent updates to BIOS (and other updates) are NOT limited to Win10 - as the website implies - but also for Win11 provided the Win11 installation was done as per HP/MS specifications - processor, RAM,  and whatever.

Once again, thanks!!!  With kind regards.

Hmm... I did already, and checked right now and there was a green tag indicating that the solution was accepted...

@SMFairfield,

Yea, my bad: I didn't see it at first when I responded, and I edited my previous response to acknowledge you did.
