Did a factory reset on my windows 10 PC and now it's asking me to login as "other user" to which I have no password or username name for. How do I bypass this screen to get into windows or create a new user name and password?

Found "hp recovery manager" in trouble shooting menu so I'm going to try "factory image recovery" and see if I get different results this way. This way says it's reformatting the windows partition of my hd, copying files required to restore the hd, and restore the files to the hd. Wish me luck!!

@er0k,

Welcome to the HP Forums!

Thank you for posting your query on this forum, it's a great place to find answers.

I reviewed your post and I understand that the computer boot to other user login.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

In order that I may provide you with an accurate solution, I will need a few more details.

  • When was the last time the computer was working fine?
  • Have you performed any troubleshooting steps before posting?

While you respond to that, I recommend you follow the below steps and check if it resolves the issue.

  1. Press Ctrl + Alt + Delete key.
  2. Click on Switch User.
  3. And select your user account.

I suggest you follow these steps to make your account as your Default login account.

1. Press windows + x
2. Select control panel
3. Select user account
4. Select Manage user account
5. Choose the account you want it to be
the default
6. Login with the account and restart

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

Last time my computer was working fine was right before I did the factory reset. The only other trouble shooting I tried was to be login as administrator and windows never fully loaded. Black screen with a movable courser was all that loaded and I received some type of error that said something couldn't be found or loaded. After restarting the login screen shows administrator but when I try to login now it says, " your account" has been disabled. I also tried to factory reset by holding shift and restarting into troubleshoot in options and doing another factory reset which when finished still asked me for "other user" to login with no other accounts to choose from.
