Microsoft Windows 11

HI!

Just like many others, I'm not a huge fan of Windows 11 that came pre-installed on my new computer. I've tried to downgrading to WIN10, after reinstallation the laptop works perfectly fine until I boot it up, and then suddenly many black lines pups up on the screen makes it impossible to see what you're doing. The laptop works perfectly fine on WIN11.
I prefer WIN10 when it comes to several gaming reasons, if there is any solution for my problem please reply to this post to help me with this issue.

Thanks!

Hi @CH1237,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like the issue you're experiencing might be related to incompatible or missing drivers after downgrading from Windows 11 to Windows 10. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem.

  • Update Drivers: Ensure that all drivers on your laptop are up to date, especially the graphics driver. Visit the HP website and download the latest drivers for your specific model.
  • Compatibility Check: Verify that your laptop hardware is compatible with Windows 10. Some newer hardware may not have drivers available for Windows 10, leading to compatibility issues.
  • BIOS Update: Check if there's a BIOS update available for your laptop. Sometimes, updating the BIOS can resolve compatibility issues with older operating systems.
  • Compatibility Mode: Try running Windows 10 in compatibility mode. Right-click on the installer, go to Properties, then Compatibility tab, and check the box for "Run this program in compatibility mode for" and select Windows 10.
  • Clean Installation: Consider performing a clean installation of Windows 10. This involves formatting your hard drive and installing Windows 10 from scratch. Make sure to back up any important data before proceeding with this step.
  • Check Display Settings: After installing Windows 10, check the display settings to ensure they are configured correctly. You may need to adjust the resolution or refresh rate to match your laptop's display specifications.

Before attempting any of these steps, it's a good idea to back up your important files and create a system restore point in case anything goes wrong during the troubleshooting process.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi @Alden4

I did every step you did talk about there, still same problems faced with Windows 10. I updated every single driver and BIOS, I can't understand why I can't install this operating system on my laptop.

This is what I was talking about on the earlier post. Black lines everywhere on the screen, I can't find a solution for this.

It seems to work perfectly fine on Windows 11 but not 10.
I hope you guys can help me with the problem I'm facing as fast as possible.

Thanks!
