Hello,
PC HP PAVILLON H8-1140Fr
Windows 6.1.7601 SP1 BIOS SYSTEM CHG_712 ROM V7.12
I bought this tower PC over 10 years ago and I haven't experienced a single breakdown! Congratulations to HP for this "indestructible" piece of hardware.
Over time, the pre-installed Windows 7, and especially the hard drive, became contaminated, so I decided to give this companion a new lease on life by reinstalling Windows 7.
I knew for a long time that Windows 7 is no longer updated, but I'm asking you for the answer to a question that is very important to me before formatting the hard disk.
"CAN YOU CONFIRM WHETHER OR NOT THIS PC HAS A FACTORY RECOVERY PARTITION?"
THANKS A LOT TO ALL..
BEST RAGARDS.

Greetings @LORENTZ14
Welcome back to the Forum.
You're jogging my memory with this question.
Older HP PCs, prior to the HP Cloud Recovery option (W10 or W11), had a Recovery partition.
It was possible to do a factory recovery using the HP Recovery Manager which was a Windows option. Or you could do a Recovery from the HP Startup Menu outside of Windows.
Can you now use Windows 7? Try the HP Recovery Manager while in Windows.
Or try starting the PC, repeatedly tap the "ESC" key. Then check for an "F11" System Recovery option if you can't use W7.
Don't format the system disk. You would remove the HP Recovery partition.
You would have no way to reinstall the HP W7 factory image if you reformat the system disk.
A HP factory W7 recovery would also be very difficult, or impossible, if the system disk is failing or has failed.
Regards
