Hi @XDlinst,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be glad to help you!
It's awesome that you're giving the OMEN computer a second chance at life! Here's how you can get a boot device and install an operating system.
1.Get a Bootable USB Drive
Download the Windows Media Creation Tool
- Visit the official Microsoft Windows Download page.
- Download the Media Creation Tool on a working computer.
- Insert a USB drive with at least 8GB of storage.
Create the Bootable USB
- Run the Media Creation Tool and follow the prompts to create a bootable USB for Windows.
- Select the correct version (likely Windows 10 or 11, depending on what the OMEN supports).
2: Install Windows on the OMEN Computer
Insert the USB Drive
- Plug the bootable USB into the OMEN PC and power it on.
Access the Boot Menu
- Press Esc, F9, or another key (it varies by system) immediately after turning it on to access the boot menu.
- Select the USB drive as the boot device.
Start the Installation
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
- If prompted to enter a Windows Product Key and you don’t have one, click I don’t have a product key. You can activate Windows later.
Format the Drive (if necessary)
- When asked where to install Windows, select the drive, and choose Format if the drive isn’t blank. Be careful—this will erase all existing data on the drive.
Complete the Installation
- After the installation finishes, the system will reboot a few times. Follow the prompts to set up your language, region, and user account.
Tips:
- Drivers: After installation, install the drivers for the OMEN from the HP support website to ensure the hardware works correctly.
- Product Key: If the OMEN had a pre-installed version of Windows, the license might be embedded in the BIOS. Windows should activate automatically if this is the case.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
