If you're unable to log in to your HP ENVY - 17m-bw0013dx running Windows 11 and both your PIN and fingerprint options are unavailable, here are a few steps you can try to regain access:
If You Use a Microsoft Account
Most users sign in with a Microsoft account. If that’s the case:
- Visit the Microsoft Password Reset page.
- Follow the prompts to reset your password using your email or phone number.
- Once reset, use the new password to log in.
If You Use a Local Account (Not Microsoft Account)
Option 1: Use a Password Reset Disk
If you created a password reset disk earlier:
- Insert the disk and click Reset password on the login screen.
- Follow the wizard to create a new password.

Option 2: Use Another Admin Account
If another admin account is available:
- Log in with that account.
- Go to Control Panel > User Accounts > Manage another account.
- Select your account and change the password.
If No Reset Options Work
You may need to reset the PC:
- On the login screen, hold Shift and click Restart.
- Choose Troubleshoot > Reset this PC.
- Select Keep my files (to preserve data) or Remove everything.
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
