I guess we are now linked by the old adage "Misery loves company".

I still believe what messed up my monitor resolution was the "event"- listed below, that had taken place prior to my having issues...

But I can't seem to find a way to delete that event.

Under  Events…

10/23/2017 5:04:57 PM Device configured (oem 119.inf)

10/23/17 5:04:57 PM Device started (monitor)

Information…

Device  DISPLAY\HWP2889\1&8713bca&0&UID0 was configured

Driver Name:  oem119.inf

Class Guid:  {4D36E96E-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

Driver Date: 10/19/2009

I can't seem to find a way to delete the event of the most-recent election of the President of the USA.  :Wink:

In both cases, the event has occurred -- it is now a historical event, that cannot be erased.

What you can try is to compensate:

* open Device Manager

* expand the "Display Adapter" branch of the device-tree

* double-click on the adapter

* click to the "Driver" tab

* choose "Roll Back"

to return to the device-driver that was working correctly.

Wow... I haven't tried the steps you have offered but I will next.

I just had to respond first by saying you really got me laughing with your comment about the "recent-event" of electing the POTUS..... if I could some how delete that event I would happily live with my monitor issue!

Thanks for the suggestion, I will get back to you with an update.

I'm having the same exact problem, and it began around the same time.  I really want my resolultion restored to 1600X900 and I've tried just about everything.  I hope a solution can be found for this annoying issue.

Ziggy10 -- the exact same problem should be solved by the exact same solution - "rollback" the device-driver.

Also, it seems that Microsoft has released an update that fixes the problem caused by their earlier update.

Will the latest update be automatically installed, or should I search for it?

This thread was opened by bradleyson  -- not you.

We are waiting for that person to report back.

I am having the exact same problem with my 2010i, it started a week or two ago. I have tried everything but the resolution isn't listed.

to return to the device-driver that was working correctly.

Also, run Windows Update, to see if there are any updates to remediate the update that caused the symptoms.

I wish it was as easy as this. I have tried all of these things and still the same. My computer is a slimline so I can't just replace the card as there are no slots and ati is no longer doing updates.
