Either the "roll-back" or the Windows Update should have remediated the problem.
Have you tried using "Display Settings" to choose the "optimal" resolution?
Are you still "stuck" at 1024-by-768?
Is "System Restore" enabled on your computer?
If so, that is another method to "time-warp" your computer back to a date/time when the display settings were "optimal".

Hi, I had the same issue and just fixed mine. Try this and I hope this will fix yours too:
I have a P6000 Pavilion also with Display adapter ATI Radeon HD 4200. I had upgraded my PC from Win 7 to Win 10 and everything was working fine until about the same time last month my resolution was reduced and could not set it higher than 1280x1024.
After lot of research I re-installed the drivers for my Display adapter (for Win 7) and it worked fine. It seems whatever recent update was done by Microsoft conflicts with Win 10 and the lastest update. So here is what I did:
1. go to http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop/legacy?product=legacy2&os=Windows%207%20-%2064
2. scroll down to the middle of the page and under "Downloads"
3. download the first file (Catalyst Software Suite) and istall it
4. download the second file (HydraVision Package) and install it
5. Reboot your PC
6. It should work now. Here is what the download table looks like.

@Bradleyson, since this is "your" discussion-thread, have you resolved the problem on your computer?

Hey everyone...
I apologize for not updating here regarding my progress fixing my screen resolution issue but I've had a family matter I've been dealing with.
I've tried everything that's been suggested here including the recent post with the excellently detailed steps to download the "Catalyst Software Suite" and install it followed by downloading and installing the "Hydravision Package".
I sadly report I still have the stretched display screen and I'm really thinking I'm just going to have to live with it this way.
That said I truly appreciate and applaud everyone who has offered their thoughts, suggestions and their time in attempting to rectify my issue that has also become a problem for others.
I'll keep checking here when I can and I will definitely post a solution if I happen to discover one.
Thanks again everyone for your support!

> I have tried all of these suggestions and still the same issues.
Please be specific about which suggestions you have tried:
* Roll Back
* System Restore
* Catalyst device-driver
* suggestion from @PeymanE (above)
> My computer is a Slimline, so I can’t even install a new video card.
Huh? There do exist "low-rise" PCI-E graphic adapters.
Exactly what model-number do you have?

I have tried them all
* Roll Back
* System Restore
* Catalyst device-driver
* suggestion from @PeymanE
and like Bradleyson, Catalystic device driver will not open or do anything.
in addition to the suggestions, I tried to download the driver direct from HP and it will not install because the computer is running windows 10 instead of the original 7. my pc is a HP S5610Y
