HP Pavilion P6000 series
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My HP Pavilion P6000 series pc -(I know I'm still living in the past) has a HP 2010i wide screen monitor.

Yesterday while I was working on the computer the video screen on the monitor enlarged everything all on its own.

I haven't had any success to fix this resolution issue. I've tried a system restore and that didn't work, I've checked drivers and they are up to date.

The pc runs fine but the annoying large icons and large online pages are why I'm here now.

I do know that an event did occur yesterday and I believe this is my problem but I don't know how to rectify it....

Under  Events…

10/23/2017 5:04:57 PM Device configured (oem 119.inf)

10/23/17 5:04:57 PM Device started (monitor)

Information…

Device  DISPLAY\HWP2889\1&8713bca&0&UID0 was configured

Driver Name:  oem119.inf

Class Guid:  {4D36E96E-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

Driver Date: 10/19/2009

Any help will sure be appreciated.

Thanks

@bradleyson, welcome to the forum.

I suggest that you go into the Settings/Display to see if the resolution has changed.  If so, you should reset it to the native resolution, 1600x900 @ 60Hz.

Please click the Thumbs up + button if I have helped you and click Accept as Solution if your problem is solved.

First off thanks for your interest and advice.

I did switch the resolution from the recommended (1024x768) to 1280x1024 which helped a little.

I didn't have the option to set it at your suggested 1600x900 - (or I just don't know how to).

It is better but it still seems like everything is stretched.

I really wish I knew how to undo that "Device configuration that occurred on 11/23/17".

I truly believe that is the culprit here.

Again, "thanks for your help".

Thank you for the additional information, @bradleyson.

The reason that I recommended setting the resolution to 1600x900 is, that is the native resolution for the monitor according to the specifications.  I suggest going into the "Device Manager/Monitors/right click on your monitor/Update driver" to see if that helps.

Here is the User Guide for the monitor.  There is a good Troubleshooting section at the end of the guide.

I have check the drivers and after searching I get a result that the current driver is correct but I wonder if it really is?

I just downloaded the "HP My Display" and after running it it shows that the recommended timing should be 1600x900, (just as you said) but I can't get it to reset to that there or by opening the monitor itself... the choice to select that isn't there.

I'm wondering if I should remove the existing driver and then do a search for the newest one.

It's frustrating cause it still seems like that configuration that happend on the 23rd is when this went a mess.

I thank you again for all your efforts.

Yes, I suggest uninstalling the current driver and reinstall the latest driver.  It may be that a glitch has occurred that is causing your problem.  This type of problem is always difficult to figure out.  It just takes trying different things until one works.

I tried uninstalling the driver and then searching for the latest and installing it but that hasn't remedied my problem.

When I use my "HP My display" program it shows that the resolution is currently set to 1280x1024 @ 64hz and it also states that it should be set to your 1600x900 @ 60hz but if I attempt to change it within the program by clicking on the "change resolution icon"... nothing comes up ... no choices appear.

I'm really at a loss about what to try next.

But no matter what... I really, really appreciate your time and efforts in trying to help me with this.

You are definitely a great person and an asset to this help/support center.

Thanks.

Do you have any "third-party" supplied "Driver Updater" software installed on your computer?

It may have installed a "generic" (or the manufacturer's "base") device-driver.

[It happened to my friend -- her dual-monitor system became two "duplicate" displays, with large fonts, and a lower resolution.]

The solution for my friend was to open Device Manager, expand the "Graphics Adapter" branch of the device-tree, and double-click on the device-driver.  Then, click "rollback to a previous driver".  Done.

My wife had the same thing happen to her monitor (2010i) on Thursday/Friday.  Not sure what caused it but we're experiencing the same issues.

  • Stretched screen
  • Downgraded resolution and can't change it to native resolution (1600x900 is not an option listed in the dropdown.)

Tried rebooting in safe mode, but that didnt' help.  However, when windows is starting to boot up, the auto-configuration box brielfy flashes and states the resolution is 1600x900, but by the time it gets to the Windows Login screen, the screen resolution is messed up.

Checked and we have the most up-to-date drivers.

I'm sorry to hear that you are having the issue, but glad that we're not the only one.  Sounds strange that multiple people are experiencing the same issue at around the same time.

Have you tried to "rollback" the video device-driver, to the previous version?  Result?
