Unsure if I got the board or category right but oh well.

 

I've had this Chromebook for about three years now, I believe, but for most of that time it's been hidden somewhere. I got it back and got it started back up. It was working well until it got to the "Checking for updates" screen. It was taking forever to finish loading (me and my brother were joking that it would take three years to catch up with three years worth of updates). It's been over 12 hours and it still has not finished "checking for updates". I've attempted to restart it and reset it but it still went back to checking for updates. Is it just going to take forever and then some for it to catch up or is it actually an issue? And if so, how do I fix it? I need this to finish school work ASAP
