Need to reload windows on my HP EliteDesk 800 G2 so I proceeded by formating the drive. Well after that I started loading windows7. Once I was required to use the keyboard it didn't work. Apparently the elitedesk only has usb3.0 drives on it so they are not recognized. I researched the internet and found that this is a know issue and that there was a fix. The fix was to download Intels ISO builder that puts the 3.0 driver into the install. Well I built the usb stick with the Intel fix and put into the usb drive. I reloaded windows and it let my keyboard work up until the reboot into windows and I had to set the computer name and again I was unable to use my 2.0 keyboard anymore. Now this Elitedesk 800 G2 is again now just a good old paper weight that sits on my desk.
Does anyone have a fix for this?

What is the source of the Windows 7 installer?
Before you formatted the disk-drive, did you run the HP utility program to create a bootable USB memory-stick containing the HP-modified version of Windows 7?
Or, do you have a "retail" copy of Windows 7?

Hi,
I think the easiest way since you have already installed the OS would be to use a PS2 keyboard /mouse or small adapter USB > PS/2 and then install the 2 drivers:
10.1.1.9 Rev.A | 3.2 MB | Sep 9, 2015 |
4.0.0.36 Rev.A | 5.6 MB | Sep 10, 2015 |

Hope it helps,

Hi, @rkselin00 :
Fortunately, the 800 G2 still has PS/2 KB and mouse ports.
You could have used a PS/2 KB and mouse to install W7 from soup to nuts without the need of the USB creator utility.
I would use a PS/2 KB and mouse to complete the W7 installation, and install the drivers that iomare posted for you.
Once you do that, you can reinstall the USB KB and mouse.

Then you must have the G2 mini, because the SFF and MT do have PS2 ports.

Here is what my unit has
interfaces6 x USB 3.0 (2 front, 4 rear) 1 x headphones (1 in front) 1 x headphones/microphone (1 in front) 1 x VGA 2 x DisplayPort 1 x LAN (Gigabit Ethernet) 1 x USB 3.0 - Type C (1 in front)

Yes, now I see your dilemma and like you, I don't understand why the KB and mouse are freezing when W7 restarts during the installation.
I have given the USB3 creator utility to dozens of forum members and only a couple of times has what is happening to you, has happened to them. For almost everyone, running that utility is all you needed to do to install W7.
USB-C...from what I am reading, that is based on the USB 3.1 protocol, so using that port that isn't going to help as far as I can tell.
See if this works...It is the only suggestion I have since your PC doesn't have PS/2 ports...
I have zipped up and attached the 64 bit USB3 drivers your PC uses below.
Download and unzip the file, and copy just the file contents in the folder to a usb flash drive.
Leave the flash drive in the PC.
Then boot from your W7 installation media.
After you select the install now option, select the Drive Options - Advanced menu, then select the Load Driver option.
You should now see the USB3 driver files listed.
If you check the box, it should only include the compatible driver.
Follow the prompts, and hopefully, W7 will complete the installation.
