Hello... I've got what HP calls an "old" laptop 🙂 . Battery died some time ago, got a new one about a year ago. Last week it started showing a BIOS message saying the battery was, and told me to recalibrate. So, I followed instructions, and went BIOS -> UEFI. I noticed the screenshot was not the same as in the HP support page, so I downloaded the latest one v10.8.3.0 from https://support.hp.com/us-en/help/hp-pc-hardware-diagnostics

Downloaded sp165721.exe which I installed. Now, to my very big surprise, I have UEFI v 1.24.0.0, very old installed instead.

What went wrong? I followed up instructions, downloaded from the right page, got the SP which looks ok... but still... was downgraded back to the 90s it seems...

Hope someone can help me out here, any hints appreciated.

Some screenshots.

This is what I see in the BIOS:

HP releases newer UEFI diagnostics periodically.
When you select F2 during boot you are requesting UEFI diagnostics.
There is an updated diagnostics package Click Here
Look for the phrase 'issues outside the OS',
Click the DOWNLOAD button.
The version of the UEFI diagnostics is shown at the left of that DOWNLOAD button.
When you press F2 to run diagnostics please ensure the version is the new one.

Let me know what you find out.
