I have owned this computer since August 2022. In May 2023 it started freezing. I have had numerous remote sessions with support who each time assured me it was fixed, but it still has the problem. It has been back to technical support twice and it still has the problem.
I have emailed the MD of HP in the UK for assistance but in three weeks I have not even received an acknowledgement of the email.
I am frustrated as I do not know what to do next. This computer has a three-year assistance package, so it is up to HP to rectify the situation

Hi @PeterFedUp,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP Pavilion 27 Inch All-In-One Desktop PC is freezing, it can be a frustrating experience. Freezing can be caused by various factors, including hardware and software issues. Here are some steps to help you troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem:
Check for Hardware Issues:
- Ensure that your computer isn't overheating. Overheating can cause the system to freeze. Make sure the fans and vents are clean and functioning properly.
- Check if any external devices (e.g., external hard drives, USB devices) are connected and causing conflicts. Try disconnecting them and see if the freezing issue persists.
- Test your RAM for errors. Faulty RAM can lead to freezing issues. You can use Windows Memory Diagnostic tool or third-party software like Memtest86 for this purpose.
- Monitor your computer's hardware temperatures using software like HWMonitor or SpeedFan to make sure nothing is running too hot.
Update Drivers:
- Ensure that all your drivers (graphics, chipset, network, etc.) are up to date. Outdated or incompatible drivers can lead to freezing issues. You can usually download the latest drivers from the HP website.
Check for Software Conflicts:
- Sometimes, software conflicts or malware can cause freezing. Run a full system scan with your antivirus software to check for any threats.
- Check if the freezing issue occurs when running specific software. This can help identify the root cause.
Windows Updates:
- Make sure Windows is up to date. Sometimes, Microsoft releases updates that include bug fixes for freezing and stability issues.
Startup Programs:
- Disable unnecessary startup programs that might be consuming system resources. You can manage startup programs in the Task Manager.
Check Hard Drive Health:
- A failing hard drive can cause freezing. Check your hard drive's health using tools like CHKDSK or third-party applications like CrystalDiskInfo.
System Restore:
- If the freezing issue started after a recent software installation or update, consider using System Restore to revert your system to a previous state when it was working correctly.
Clean Boot:
- Perform a clean boot to start Windows with minimal services and startup programs. This can help determine if a third-party application is causing the problem.
Reinstall Windows:
- As a last resort, if none of the above steps resolve the issue, you may need to reinstall Windows. Backup your important data before doing this.
Remember to perform these troubleshooting steps one at a time and test your computer after each step to see if the freezing issue has been resolved.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
