Two possibilities:

  1. You have just re-installed Windows 7, but did not use the original HP-modified version of Windows 7.  So, please see: http://www.computersurgeons.com/p-25287-windows-7-64bit-recovery-kit-for-hpcompaq-model-number-hp-pr... to purchase a copy of that software, if you cannot locate your copy.
  2. Partial failure of the USB circuits on the motherboard.

Your motherboard has many standard I/O ports:

  • Ten USB 2.0 (two front, four rear, four internal)
  • One RJ-45 (rear)
  • One DVI-D (rear)
  • One VGA (rear)
  • One headphone (front)
  • Two microphone (one front, one rear)
  • One audio-in (rear)
  • One audio-out (rear)

Unfortunately, there is no provision for a PS/2 keyboard -- everything is USB.

So, you are looking at a replacement of the motherboard (maximum of 8GB of RAM) or replacement of the whole computer.

This is in an existing pc installed long back (1 year or more) ... The original O/S CD is available ...

this is an unexpected issue..

Is there any solution to reset the BIOS setup by adjuesting the jumbers in the mother board?

Possibly, because there are online manuals for your: HP Pro 3500 Microtower PC

Or, power-off the computer.

Disconnect the keyboard & mouse.

Power-on the computer.

Do you still get the "keyboard error" message? Immediately?

Boot Windows, either up to the "login" prompt (if you have set a password) or up to the "wallpaper" (no password)

Now that Windows has booted, and loaded its own device-drivers for the USB hardware, reconnect the USB mouse.

Give Windows a minute or two to use "plug-and-play" to activate the mouse.  Does the mouse-pointer move when you move the mouse?

Reconnect the keyboard.

Give Windows a minute or two to use "plug-and-play" to activate the keyboard.  Does it?
