Prodesk 600 G3
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an HP Prodesk G3 Desktop system that runs Windows 10 Pro 64 bit.  While I am in the middle of working on a program this system randomly goes into "power save mode" which logs the system out basically restarting my computer and essentially losing anything I am in the middle of working on.

I have changed the power settings so that the system is set to never go to sleep and for the monitor to never turn off.  I have also updated the advanced power control settings, the power plan as set for high performance, the hard disk is set to turn off only after 10,000 minutes, and it is also set to hibernate never.

I have updated the bios and the chipset drivers and this problem persists.  Does anyone know how to prevent this system from going into "power saving mode."

Please help!  Thanks in advace!

Greetings,

Welcome to the forum.

I am not a HP employee.

That is very unusual.

Do you see a "Power Saving"  message on screen or some other alert when this happens?

Is the BIOS is set to defaults? An errant BIOS setting can sometimes override OS power settings.

yes, the system prompts with a message that says entering power saving mode. I have not changed any of the BIOS setting but I did recently flash the BIOS to ensure that it was up to date.

Honestly this system boots so fast I am not even sure how to enter the BIOS setup screen.

Hi,

You can "Open the BIOS Setup Utility" by:

  1. Turn off the computer and wait five seconds.
  2. Turn on the computer, and then immediately press the Esc key repeatedly until the Startup Menu opens.
  3. Press F10 to open the BIOS Setup Utility.

Detailed BIOS info can be reviewed at this HP Support site (Link).

Regards
