HP Support Assistant installs and icon shows, but it won't start.

That is a previous version. It states that during 'installation. 

I performed a complete uninstall and not an overwrite and it works fine. It has an updated version

Did you upgrade/downgrade your computer ? Reinstall HPSA may help. Please download the following software and install to your computer

 

    ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp71501-72000/sp71727.exe
