Check Task Manager:

Tried all the steps you mentioned, but it is showing the same Icon Messages on the Taskbar.
No messages are waiting if I don't sign in - also have a HP Laptop and Printer
All the Messages are under "Archive" - with no option to clear them.
Some are indicated by a Yellow "!" and some are Blue - could be in the Archive permanently.
I just unpin it from the Taskbar, so I don't see it.

Hi @TeresaM19,
Thanks for the update. Since the HP Support Assistant icon is still showing notifications even though there are no active alerts, here are some further steps you can try:
1. Clear the Cache of HP Support Assistant
Close HP Support Assistant completely.
Navigate to:
C:\ProgramData\HP\SupportFramework
Delete the Cache and Temp folders.
Restart your PC and reopen HP Support Assistant to check if the icon clears.
2. Reset HP Support Assistant Notifications
Open HP Support Assistant.
Go to Settings (gear icon) > Health Analysis and Tune-ups.
Turn off notifications, close the app, restart, and then turn them back on again.
This refreshes the notification system.
3. Update or Repair HP Support Assistant
Go to Control Panel > Programs and Features.
Find HP Support Assistant, right-click, and choose Repair (if available).
If Repair isn’t available, uninstall and reinstall the latest version from the HP Support Assistant website.
4. Disable Taskbar Badge Notifications
If the icon is still persistent and bothersome:
Right-click your Taskbar > Taskbar Settings.
Scroll to Notification area > Select which icons appear on the taskbar.
Find HP Support Assistant and toggle it off so it doesn’t show up with the badge.
(This won’t disable HPSA itself, only the visual badge.)
I hope this helps.

This is interesting - I do not have the same problem when signing in on my laptop.
No message icon on the taskbar and I have signed in.
Whatever the tech guys did when fixing my desktop, seems to have generated an error with the Support Assistant
Kind regards
Teresa
