I'm thinking I have a possible virus?

It is possible but there are other things that can cause that.

 
Shut the PC down, unplug the power cord from the PC, push and hold the Power button on the PC for 15 seconds, then plug it back in and start it up.

 

Make sure your primary hard drive is listed first in BIOS.

 

Make sure the hard drive connections are attached properly at both ends.

I would also consider the CMOS/RTC battery.
