Ok, This is my first time posting in the community. I am a bit knowledgeable with computers and I refurbish computers as a hobby and resell them. I got myself a HP Pavilion Slimline s5503w with a M2N68-LA Version 5 motherboard
and AMD Sempron CPU initially that I upgraded to an Athlon Phenom II X4. It had 4GB of RAM and I reformatted and installed windows 10 pro 64 bit and AMD Radeon HD5450 512MB graphics card on it. It was working fine but the RAM was a bit lacking when playing HD Movies so I decided to upgrade it to 8GB of RAM. I got two 4GB RAM sticks DDR2-800MHz and installed it.
Now here's the thing when I first put the RAM everything was working fine but maybe after using it for about an hour or so the system crashed. Then after that windows would not start at all it just gets to the initial windows logo splash screen then completely hangs. Now sometimes it would get past that and get to start windows but something was always not working either the mouse or the keyboard or both. I ran hardware diagnostics on boot to determine it the RAM was faulty but it passed all the diagnostics tests. I tried to pull out one of the 4gb RAM sticks and left the other one and windows works fine with one 4gb stick on it. I tried to do this with the other stick that i pulled thinking that it might be bad but it also works fine as long as only one 4gb stick is attached. I know that both RAM slots are working because prior to upgrading with two 4GB sticks it was operating with two 2GB sticks. Frustrated I installed Linux LIte on it and lo and behold system is running buttery smooth with no glitches whatsoever. Linux recognizes the full 8GB of RAM and operates fast and effortless. Been watching HD movies on it, youtube videos on 1080p and just general computer office use for the past few days having no problems at all. Now my question is why was windows 10 pro 64 bit having problems with the 8GB of RAM while Linux didn't?

Greetings,
Welcome to the forum.
I am not a HP employee.
It sounds like the latest version of Windows 10 has an issue. I am guessing you installed 1903.
The Ram works on Linux. This is good.
Good troubleshooting.
I don't know, try an older W10 version using Heidoc. (Link). It may be an unrelated hardware problem. One never knows.
Very perplexing.
