Last night my wife's HP ENVY 4-1215dx laptop started to have problems with the screen blinking every 10-15 seconds and when typing, letters had to be retyped because they didn't take the first time. The laptop is running Windows 8 64 bit. The PC was rebooted last night, but it didn't fix the problem.
This morning I ran a tool called MiniToolBox, and it found multiple errors for HPConnectedRemoteService.exe. An example of one of the errors is below.
Application errors:

After finding these errors I went to Control Panel>Programs and Features and did a Repair for HP Connected Remote, which didn't fix the problem. Next, I uninstalled HP Connected Remote, rebooted, and the problem appears to be fixed.
Do I need HP Connected Remote for anything? If so, how do I download a new copy that works?

HP is no longer providing the Connected Remote App nor is it available in any app stores. Review this:

It is not necessary to the functioning of your computer and if you have problems, simply uninstall it.
