My HP desktop had fallen off my desk and it started making noise, I shut it off and the noise stopped but my computer couldn't get out of the Fixing (C:) Stage 1 and it went on for 12 hours at least. When it stopped it said that the Computer couldn't finish the "fixing". Im thinking its the hard drive but I didn't back up anything and I wanted to do a recovery on what I had. Help? What do I do?

Hello
you have at least two options, provided the hard drive is not completely HS
Use a disc (if the computer has a dvd player obviously) like live cd, you can find many tutorials on the net
You must have at best an external usb hard drive, with the live cd, you can sometimes "open" the data from the hard drive and copy it to the external drive!
We can dismantle the hard drive, and connect it directly to another computer, if there is a free internal sata port, or use a usb adapter (this transforms the disc into an external drive in a way)

you can find many on the net
It is a little more difficult to give links in English, google responds more for the original language
