Hello, I am trying to check if I can upgrade my HP Pavilion 500-223w desktop to windows 10 and how if possible?

Hi:
HP does support your PC for W10, since there are W10 drivers for it on the support page.
HP Pavilion 500-223w Desktop PC (ENERGY STAR) Software and Driver Downloads | HP® Customer Support
The easiest way to upgrade to W10 for free would be to click on the blue Update Now button at the link below.

That's unfortunate.
The only other way I know of would be to clean install W10 by making the bootable installation media with the media creation tool.
Before you go through this process, which will cause you to lose everything, back up any files (pictures, documents, etc.) you need to save onto a portable hard drive.
Also, I recommend you use the free Macrium Reflect software to create a system image of your existing setup so in case the W10 clean install also fails, you can go back to where you are now.
Macrium Software | Reflect Free Edition
You want the software on the left side of the page under the 'Backup at Home' section.
Also make the bootable rescue media that you boot from to access the system image stored on your portable hard drive.
Last: Download and install the free Showkey Plus app from the Microsoft Store which will show you the PC's W8.1 product key.
ShowKeyPlus - Microsoft Store Apps
Print out the report or write down the product key.
Boot from the W10 installation media you created and when you get past the 'Install Now' screen you will be asked to select what version of W10 you want to install.
Select W10 Home.
Then you will be asked to enter a product key. Select the 'I don't have a product key' option and W10 should install.
Since you have not previously upgraded to W10, you will have to activate the installation.
To do that, you will need to change the product key and enter your W8.1 product key and W10 should activate.
Read the first (and easiest procedure for how to do that).
How to change the product key on Windows 10 | Windows Central
You should only need to install drivers for any devices that W10 doesn't install.
One of the drivers you will most likely have to install is the W10 audio driver.
Tempo High-Definition Audio Driver (Original IDT)

Paul, The last Tempo audio driver did not work on my 8.1 system.I am trying to keep this simple since you said my existing HP tower is upgradeable.I shut off my mcafee and still no results, any other item should I disconnect that could be causing my problems.Everything goes fine until installing and no restarts occur and goes from 0%-to 100% and says installation failed?

Hi:
The Tempo IDT audio driver I gave you was to use after you clean installed W10.
I can't think of any other programs to disable.
I wouldn't have even known that the McAfee antivirus would have been a barrier to upgrading to W10.
Unfortunately, I wouldn't know why the installation is failing at any point during the installation, or what the cause could be.
The only way I know of to try to install W10 when the in-place upgrade fails is via a clean install, and that requires a lot of work.
And there is no guarantee that will work either, but I don't see any other options for you to try.

Paul, Did a sfc /scannow test and found Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log.
Do you how to repair,I think this is why 10 upgrade is failing.
