Hi @efrainestrada,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand you’re trying to recover your computer, but the recovery process fails and shows messages like “Restoration incomplete” and “The system cannot find the drive specified.” Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

Restart and retry the recovery once
Restart the computer normally and try the recovery process again.
Temporary system errors can sometimes cause the recovery to fail on the first attempt.

Disconnect all external devices
Remove USB drives, external hard drives, memory cards, and printers.
Recovery can fail if it tries to read or write to the wrong device.

Check if the internal drive is detected
Restart the computer and enter BIOS or Startup Menu (usually by pressing Esc, F2, or F10 at startup).
Confirm that the internal hard drive or SSD is listed; if it’s not detected, recovery cannot complete.

Run a hard drive diagnostic test
From the Startup Menu, select Diagnostics and run the storage or hard drive test.
If the test fails, the recovery error is due to a hardware issue with the drive.

Try recovery using local recovery options
If you are using cloud or internet recovery, switch to local recovery if available.
Local recovery uses files already on the drive and avoids download-related failures.

Check available disk space
If you can access any recovery or troubleshooting menu, open Command Prompt or Troubleshoot options.
Low or corrupted disk space can cause the system to fail finding the required drive path.

Attempt startup repair
From the recovery menu, select Startup Repair instead of full recovery.
This can fix boot and file system issues without erasing data.

Understand the error message
“The system cannot find the drive specified” usually means the drive is missing, corrupted, or has failed.
If the drive is not detected in diagnostics, recovery will not complete successfully.

I hope this helps.
