OMEN 30L Desktop - GT13-0255st CTO
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello, I've recently had to recover my PC when it got corrupted due to installing a bad HP support recovery media USB drive. The USB could not recover my PC so i had to think outside the box and i bought a new USB drive and run it through a USB recovery drive using another PC. The PC now works but the problem is that its not running the same Operating system that came with my OMEN 30L Desktop. I'm currently running windows 10 instead of windows 10 pro like how it came with and I'm missing Omen apps as well.

Can i please know how to get back my original operating system and Omen apps back.

Please and thank You.

it worked its just that. im on the wrong operating system. I need to be on Omen 30L desktop operating systemwhich usually comes with the OMEN apps and a windows 10 pro.  but instead recovering my PC has ended me on a basic Windows 10 with none of the OMEN Apps.

The spec page for that model indicates it came with Windows 10 Home with a free upgrade to Windows 11

If you had ordered it with Windows 10 Pro, hopefully the paperwork shows that and it also lists the Windows 10 Pro product key.  Otherwise getting that might be a problem unless you also used a Microsoft account signon.  If so, sign in to the Microsoft account to see if they recorded the info and allow the upgrade that way.  Microsoft should have made a note of that with the account info.

If that Windows 10 Pro info is there, you might need to talk with an agent to have them allow the Windows 10 install now to upgrade.  The PC would have been on the account and received a digital signature for Windows 10 Pro, so they can match the digital signature with the present machine.

As for the Omen apps, I assume they can be download from the drives page

Unfortunately I've signed on to a different Microsoft account then the one i had originally and i tried to sign out of the one I'm on right now to sign in to the one i used from the beginning of the Desktop use but its only allowing me to add accounts and wont let me delete the one im using currently.

I have run OEMkey to try and retrieve the product key from BIOS, and i did retrieve a key, I've tried inputting that OEMKey into the windows activation but it says " The product key didn't work..."

I have purchased My device from amazon so i do not know where the paperwork your referring to would be at.

as for contacting any agents that's a bit impossible since they are locked behind a paid wall and my warranty ended.

For me, in one case, that type of key did work when INSTALLING Windows 10, but it does not work later, when trying to "change product key".

Correct. Create a new account, with "administrative" privileges. Logout from the account.

Logon to that new account. Delete the account that you logged-out from.

does that mean that i need to reinstall Windows?

No. Either adding or removing a "local" ID does not require that.

When I suggested signing in to the Microsoft account using the signon when the PC did have Windows 10 Pro, I meant here

https://account.microsoft.com/account

It sounds as though you are trying to do that when coming onto Windows.

If you use the signin with the link above, using the original Windows 10 Pro signin, it will take you to the account where Windows 10 Pro was registered.  It should then tell you about that Windows 10 Pro registration and possibly the digital key or the product key.  If it does , then you can get with a Microsoft agent to assist you in getting the Windows 10 Pro back.
