Microsoft Windows 10 IOT

Hello,

I have some HP T630 devices with Windows 10 Enterprise 2016 LTSB.

Within ThinUpdate I noticed some updates, v1507, v1607 and v1809.

1) which of these should I select?

2) how can I install the update after I downloaded the .cab file?

PS the regular Update feature within Windows does not work.

Thanks in advance!

SJW

PS in the meantime I found out the .cab files can be installed with:

dism.exe /online /add-package /packagepath:[pathname of the cab file]

Best regards

@sjwestra -- Within ThinUpdate I noticed some updates, v1507, v1607 and v1809.

1) which of these should I select?

That "1507" update was released in the 7th month of 2015.

That "1607" update was released in the 7th month of 2016.  It contains all the updates included in the "1507".

That "1809" update was released in the 9th month of 2018.  It contains all the updates included in the "1607".

If you already have the "2016 LTSB" version, it probably includes the "1607" updates.

2) how can I install the update after I downloaded the .cab file?

Presumably, just double-click on the file, for Windows to launch it.

Are there no instructions on the web-page from where you downloaded the file?

PS the regular Update feature within Windows does not work.

Open the Windows "Settings", and search for "troubleshooting".

Select the trouble-shooter that analyses/fixes Windows Update, and run it.

Is there not a "2021 LTSB" that you can install?

Thanks, I used HP ThinUpdate to search for the updates, so not a site. It doesn't contain instructions how to install the Cumulative Updates.

My LTSB image from June 2020 is Win10IoT 2016 LTSB Image 16WWFTGJ601 and it contains Windows 10.0.14393 build 14393 from July 2016, so now I'm looking for cumulative updates for that image in order to have the latest security fixes.

When I use the HP tool ThinUpdate, it shows some servicing stacks from 2021 and the following cumulative updates from the 4th of February 2022:

- KB5010358  2/4/2022  2022-02 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1507

- KB5010351  2/4/2022  2022-02 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1809

- KB5010359  2/4/2022  2022-02 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1607

In the meantime I found out my Windows 10.0.14393 build 14393 is v1607, so I downloaded the 3rd Cumulative Update in the above list which is a .cab-file.

Now I'm looking for a way to install the downloaded .cab-file...

Thanks again.
