I have an old password and need to reset on an IQ500 TouchSmart PC. Any thoughts?

In order to reset a password, you must know the CURRENT password, login to Windows, and use the Settings --> Accounts option to reset it.  Do you not know the CURRENT password?

This machine is 10+ years old. No, I dont remember the password.

You should have written it down -- as we have no way of accessing or recovering it, nor do you NOW.


BIOS (and Power) passwords are encoded into the firmware of the motherboard and we have no access of any kind to that. Changing such a password requires completely replacing the motherboard with a new one that does NOT have a password encoded into the firmware -- and that usually costs a LOT more than simply replacing the computer.


I wish we could help you -- but we can't, since we have no way from here to verify ownership of any computer.
