Hi:
If you had previously upgraded your PC to W10, here is how to reinstall it for free from the W7 desktop.
Make a bootable W10 USB installation drive with the media creation tool.
Download Windows 10 (microsoft.com)
After the media has been created, do not boot from the media.
Open the flash drive in Windows explorer and double-click on the setup application you see in the list of files to begin the upgrade process.
Microsoft has a record of your PC having been previously upgraded to W10, so the installation should activate.
Also, if you ever need to clean install W10, boot from the W10 USB installation media you made.
Select the version of W10 you had upgraded to from W7 (Home or Pro).
Then you will be asked to enter a product key.
Select the 'I don't have a product key' option.
Then when it asks, 'Where do you want to install Windows?,' that is where I delete every partition on the hard drive (if I didn't create any separate partitions to install files on).
I leave just one partition of unallocated space.
Click next, and W10 will install and automatically activate after you are connected to the internet.
