I just purchased the original HP Envy x2 Active Pen and I'm not sure how to connect it to my laptop. I have the HP Pavilion x360. There are two buttons near the bottom of the pen, but I do not see a light anywhere.

Hi @kfbooth,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The HP Envy x2 Active Pen should be compatible with your HP Pavilion x360 laptop, but it might require some initial setup to connect it properly. Here are the steps you can follow to connect the pen to your laptop.
Insert a Battery: The HP Envy x2 Active Pen usually requires a AAAA battery to function. Ensure that you have a fresh battery inserted correctly in the pen.
Check Bluetooth: This pen usually connects to your laptop via Bluetooth. Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your HP Pavilion x360. You can do this by:
- Clicking on the Windows Start button.
- Typing "Bluetooth" in the search bar and selecting "Bluetooth and other devices settings."
- Make sure Bluetooth is turned on.
Pair the Pen:
- With Bluetooth enabled on your laptop, press and hold one of the buttons on the pen for a few seconds. This should initiate the pairing process.
- Look for a list of available Bluetooth devices on your laptop. Your HP Envy x2 Active Pen should appear in the list. Click on it to pair the pen with your laptop.
Calibrate the Pen (Optional): After pairing, you may need to calibrate the pen for accurate touch and pen input. You can usually do this by going to your laptop's settings:
- Go to the Windows Start menu.
- Click on "Settings" (the gear-shaped icon).
- Select "Devices."
- Click on "Pen & Windows Ink."
- Follow the on-screen instructions to calibrate your pen.
Test the Pen: Once paired and calibrated (if necessary), test the pen by opening an application that supports pen input, such as Microsoft OneNote or Windows Ink Workspace. You should be able to use the pen to draw and write on the screen.
If you're still having trouble connecting the pen after following these steps, it's possible that the pen's battery is depleted, the Bluetooth driver on your laptop needs updating, or there may be an issue with the pen itself.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
