I been having little problem with hard drive so I have had this computer 4 years I I was goin

My computer is 4 years old and Ive had a coouple small problems so I decided to wipe and start over and it be kinda new. That didnt  work I  have a 3FO on my hard drive. well i get the computer I was trying to load an operatinng system bur the computer doest see My USB so I cant get windows on it  because I wanted to chkdsk and maybe   i can use it for a bit longer. How do I get the computer see my USB??? I could usee sdos to do the things I need to but I cant bring up a command center to write

My granddaughter will be back in 12 days And really want to have it fixed by then. I looked at external hard drives and if I can ffix  it I will buy one those.
