HP Pavilion Notebook - 15-ab126la (ENERGY STAR)
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I can't install this update 2018-05 Windows 10 Update Version 1607 for x64 based systems (KB4132216).

My laptop suggests that I should remove the BIOS (HP PAVILION BIOS version F.41-09/19/2016).

I'd just prefer to update it.

Please help me. I'll be grateful for any real help.

Greetings @Fe7561

My pleasure.

Yes, you want to install W10 22H2.

You can get the W10 image and create USB installation media by using this Microsoft Site.

Back up data if there is anything of value on the current OS drive before installing W10.

You could also try a W10  in-place upgrade but I'm guessing the current OS is pretty messed up. The W10 upgrade might fail.

Check System Files to see how the current W10 OS looks:

Open an Admin command prompt as follows:

Open Search then enter "command prompt". Right-click on the search result.

Select "Run as Administrator".

Enter the following commands, one at a time. Wait for each command to complete before running the next command.

DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth note: the PC must be connected to the network when using the DISM command.

Enter the next command to verify system files are okay.

sfc /scannow

Try a W10 in-place upgrade if system files are okay.

You might be able to clean install W11 on your PC. Let me know if you're interested. No way to predict how a W11 install will go on older hardware.

A different Forum member can give you tips to install W11 on unsupported hardware. I'll send an invite to this Forum member if you want to try W11.

Hi @Bill_To

I haven't used this laptop between 2018-2025.
I decided to restore it and I didn't know what you're mentioning.

Bill, Do you suggest I change the current operating system to W10 22H2?

thank you for your support

Hello @Paul_Tikkanen & @Bill_To

I was able to solve the problem, but it resulted in a series of steps that went beyond just installing W10 22H2.

This is what I did:

1.a Visit https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

1.b Download The Update Assistant

Error Detected0xc1900209

2. Fix error 0xc1900209

Solution: Run the StartComponentCleanup option through Task Manager. To do this, I have used a tutorial.

Tutorial:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EQdflrxKHa4

Error Detected: 0x80070002

2. Fix error 0x80070002

Solution: Run the Windows Update troubleshooter

Tutorial (in spanish):  https://support.microsoft.com/es-es/windows/solucionar-problemas-de-actualizaci%C3%B3n-de-windows-18...

PS: I didn't make a backup because I didn't need it

3. Run the Windows Update troubleshooter to check that there are no errors

4. Update HP PAVILION BIOS version F.54

Link to BIOS v.F.54

Info: https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp97001-97500/sp97106.html

Exe: https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp97001-97500/sp97106.exe

Thanks to: @Paul_Tikkanen

4. Run the StartComponentCleanup option through Task Manager to check that there are no errors

5. Download and install Windows 10 v. 20H2

Thanks to two good men: @Paul_Tikkanen & @Bill_To
