Welcome to our HP Community forum!
Unless I am mistaken, it sounds like you are asking about the DATA (D:) drive on your HP Pavilion All-in-One desktop. This drive is usually a separate partition on the hard drive or an additional storage drive. Here’s how you can use it:
What is DATA (D:)?
- Extra Storage Space – Many HP desktops come with a [D:] drive as a secondary partition for storing files separately from the C: drive (which holds Windows and programs).
- Recovery Partition (Rare Cases) – Some HP systems use [D:] for recovery purposes, but most modern HP PCs have a separate "Recovery" partition instead.
How to Use DATA (D:):
Save Personal Files to [D:]
- When saving documents, pictures, or videos, select [D:] as the destination instead of C:.
- Example: When saving a Word file, choose "Save As" → This PC → DATA (D:).
Move Existing Files to [D:]
- Open File Explorer (Win + E).
- Locate large files on C: (Documents, Downloads, Videos, etc.).
- Drag and drop them into [D:] to free up space on C:.
Change Default Save Locations to [D:]
- Go to Settings → System → Storage → Advanced Storage Settings → Where new content is saved.
- Set Documents, Music, Pictures, and Videos to [D:] instead of C.
Check If [D:] is a Recovery Drive (⚠️ Do not delete files if so!)
- Open File Explorer, right-click [D:] → Properties.
- If it has very little free space and contains HP recovery-related folders (e.g., Recovery or HP_RECOVERY), it’s best to leave it alone!
Would you like me to clarify anything further?
Kind Regards,
