HI
I am trying to change the CPU in the HP Prodesk 400 G1. The current processor is
Intel® Pentium® Processor G3220 (3M Cache- 3.00 GHz) |
From the community forum, I found out i7-4771 is compatible with Bios and the motherboard (HP 18E9), is this right? Before buying want to be sure.
I am not a techie but would like to give it a go, so please help.
Thanks

You're very welcome.
There isn't anything you can do to make your PC meet Microsoft's minimum W11 hardware requirements.
Your PC only supports the Intel 4th gen core processors and the W11 processor requirements are a minimum of an Intel 8th gen core processor.
Also, your PC does not have the required TPM 2.0 security hardware.
If it has a TPM chip, it is version 1.2 and cannot be upgraded.
If you are interested in installing W11 on your PC as is, you can read this discussion for how I upgraded several HP and Dell notebook and desktop PC's that did not meet the W11 hardware requirements to W11 22H2.
You have to use the version of the Rufus utility that I zipped up and attached in the discussion (v3.18).

If the in-place upgrade fails, you should be able to clean install W11 using the bootable W11 installation flash drive you made with Rufus.
I have a Dell Optiplex 3020 MT with an i5-4570 processor and it runs W11 just fine.
