HP PRODESK 600 G1 SFF
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Bought pc in Feb 2020 and normally set on sleep mode when not in use, thus have only restarted pc two times and used password/pin two times successfully when signing into W10. Three days ago restarted pc and when email address appeared (as it had two times previously) it appeared with a password box (same as before, but do not use password rather a pin number). Entered pin and os didn't accept. Now can't get passed sign in and sign in doesn't always appear, more often just a picture with time and date. Which it did before, except now when hit enter the name/password doesn't appear rather the picture becomes hazy and three icons appear in lower right hand corner, including the power button symbol. The sign in name/password may appear once out of 50 tries of restarts, otherwise picture etc. Have use shift key+restart to bring up Window Startup Repair but that only works one out of 100 attempts. When was able to on two occasions used restore, that was accomplished but sign in problem remained. Tried to get to safe mode but again wouldn't accept password/pin. Can't use recovery because there is no recovery partition. Any ideas? Also tried Windows key+L and X as suggested by some.

Thanks for your time.

Finally gave up and reinstalled Windows 10 with iso from Microsoft. This time removed all sign in requirements as can't rely on OS remembering my password/pin. Very unimpressed with Windows 10 especially its lack of flexibility in presentation preferred by user. It appears to be a OS developed by individuals who want to force others to use system the way they want it to be used not the consumer.

Anyway understand your position but its not helpful to your customers who can't correct an OS installed by HP on an HP computer. Security is one thing but quite another when the end user is run over by errors caused by the OS not the user. If my problem was on a laptop where having it stolen is more likely then perhaps this deep concern on security assistance regarding password/pin issues is one thing, but highly unlikely someone is going to break into my house to steal a desktop pc. As some other issues, perhaps laptops should have different security means and treatment.

Being 80 years old I don't want a OS that won't allow my children to have access my pc to gather critical information that is on it that may be of extreme importance when I'm dead or severely incapacitated and they reach out to  the manufacturer of the pc for assistance and be refused because of fear someone somewhere might be able to use the information to hack into a desktop pc they stole from a house break in.

Once in 2008 I had to send my desktop to HP for repair. While this repair was being made and a well trained computer repair individual has full access to everything on my pc and if he wanted to he could gain all forms of info from my pc. That is a risky situation but I have to assume such an individual is not employed by HP but what assurance does HP have that such an individual is in their employ? No company knows the true character of any employee no matter how stringent their hiring screening may be. We can't live in a shell, life is full of risks.

Thankfully this OS malfunction on a second pc didn't endanger losing any important programs or files as they all reside on my HP with Windows Vista so reinstalling Windows 10 as a new install caused me nothing except the inability to overcome a password/pin issue that no one would assist because of misplaced integrity of a legitimate owner of an OS that can't remember the owner's password/pin and no one will assist.

The pc is a fine piece of equipment and bought it for $70.00 and bought it solely to get the OS with up to date browsers since browsers for Vista will apparently one day be unable to even get on my home page. However, I didn't realize that OS couldn't retain critical information needed to be used and when seeking assistance everyone asked runs for cover claiming high morale standards and the tall grass. Really appreciate the deep concern and insinuation that my reaching out for assistance was ignored because I might be of low moral ethics and motivation.
