Hi:

With the install disk in the DVD drive, restart the PC and tap the ESC key at the beginning of the HP welcome screen.

You should now see a list of options.

Select the F9 Boot Options menu.

Use your arrow keys to scroll down and select the legacy DVD drive.  You have to select the SATA item below the actual DVD drive line, and hit the enter key.

Watch the screen for further instructions.

Thank you so much. It was a computer that was fased out by company I work for and bought O/S and SSD and thought it was going to be a loss.

THANK YOU, SIR.  case closed.

You're very welcome.

You will enjoy the performance of that PC--especially with a SSD.

You can also install 4 x 8 GB of memory in that rig and it should perform nicely for a long time.

Runs W10 just fine too (as long as the BIOS wasn't updated to v2.29).  Then you have to disable the TPM device in the BIOS's security menu if it has been updated to the latest version.

The problem from the v2.29 BIOS update, is that it takes about 2 minutes for the PC to get back to Windows from a restart.
