Hi @ELDERLORD,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be glad to help you!
If your HP Victus 15.6-inch Gaming Laptop 15-fb0000 automatically starts up again after you shut it down, here are some steps to troubleshoot and fix the issue:
1. Check Power Settings
Disable Fast Startup:
- Press Win + R to open the Run dialog.
- Type control and press Enter to open the Control Panel.
- Go to Hardware and Sound > Power Options.
- Click Choose what the power buttons do on the left.
- Click Change settings that are currently unavailable.
- Uncheck Turn on fast startup (recommended).
- Click Save changes.
Check for Wake Timers:
- Go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Power Options.
- Click Change plan settings next to your selected power plan.
- Click Change advanced power settings.
- Expand Sleep > Allow wake timers and set it to Disable.
2. Check BIOS/UEFI Settings
Access BIOS/UEFI:
- Restart your laptop and press F10 (or the specific key for your model) to enter the BIOS/UEFI settings.
Check Power Settings in BIOS:
- Look for settings related to Power On or Wake On LAN. Disable any settings that might cause the laptop to power on automatically.
3. Check Device Manager
- Check for Wake Devices:
- Press Win + X and select Device Manager.
- Expand Network adapters and right-click your network adapter.
- Select Properties and go to the Power Management tab.
- Uncheck Allow this device to wake the computer if it's checked.
- Repeat for other devices under Keyboards and Mice if applicable.
4. Check Scheduled Tasks
- Check Task Scheduler:
- Press Win + S and type Task Scheduler, then open it.
- Look through the tasks under Task Scheduler Library. Check for any tasks that might be set to wake or start the laptop.
Please find the remaining steps in the next post.
