While attempting to turn on my computer I got a message saying “Your computer has encountered a problem and needs to be restarted”. After restarting another screen popped up saying “preparing automatic repair” followed by “chose your keyboard layout”. I am stuck at this message and cannot do anything. Neither the mouse nor the keyboard respond to any commands. How do I get passed this screen and back into my computer?

@Airbuspilot2019,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I recommend you restart the computer and check whether you are able to boot to Windows.

If you continue facing the issue, then follow the below steps.

  1. Click Repair your computer at the bottom.
  2. Choose Troubleshoot>Advanced Options>Command Prompt.
  3. Type chkdsk /f /r C: and then press Enter.
  4. Type exit and press Enter.
  5. Restart your PC to see if the problem is fixed or not.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

Cheers!
