I think I lost/missplaced my windows 8 recovery disk and I want to refresh my computer. Is there a place that I can download or buy them?

Hi:

 

If your PC originally came with Windows 8, HP no longer sells W8 recovery media, and it was never available for download.

 

You can see if this non-HP vendor still sells recovery disks for your PC.

 

You will need to enter the full model number or product number of your PC to see if they are available.

you also have the free option

I suppose a forgetting of @Paul_Tikkanen  which indicates it regularly
you should be able to use microsoft media

https://www.microsoft.com/fr-fr/software-download/windows8ISO
You will just need to recover some drivers and software from the hp product page
