A USB drive was not working.  I was directed to update my HP hardware diagnostics.  After I updated it and performed the diagnostics, I lost all of my files.  I have been unable to recover them.  Please help.

Check If Files Are Hidden

  1. Connect the USB drive to your laptop.
  2. Open File Explorer and go to the USB drive.
  3. Click on View > Show > Hidden items to check if the files are hidden.
  4. If the files appear, copy them to another location.

Check Recycle Bin

Use Windows File Recovery Tool

  1. Download Windows File Recovery from the Microsoft Store.

  3. Use the following command to scan your USB drive (replace E: with your USB drive letter):
    winfr E: C:\RecoveredFiles /extensive
  4. Check the C:\RecoveredFiles folder for recovered data.

Check for USB Drive Errors

Perform System Restore (If Applicable)

  1. Type "Create a restore point" in Windows Search and open it.
  2. Click System Restore > Next.
