HP Stream 11-ak0000 Laptop PC (528P3AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

I was using my laptop as normal and I shut it down for 2 hours and when I went to switch it back on I got a blue screen and a critical error message. I can't do anything with it. I spoke to a support person who advised me to purchase a flash drive and send it in with the laptop.  That was back in December and I haven't heard anything from them since. I have been unable to use my laptop now for 2 months and I need to get it fixed ASAP.  Can anyone help me please?

@PaulaB4, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding HP Stream 11!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If the laptop is still with you, try these steps:

Power Reset

  1. Unplug the charger and remove any external devices.
  2. Press and hold the power button for 15-20 seconds to discharge residual power.
  3. Plug in the charger and try turning it on.

Boot into Recovery Mode

  1. Power on the laptop and immediately start pressing F11 repeatedly.
  2. If the Recovery Manager appears, follow the on-screen instructions to restore Windows.
  3. If F11 doesn’t work, try pressing Esc, then select F9 (Boot Menu) to check if any boot options are available.

Create a Windows Recovery USB

Since HP suggested a flash drive, they might have wanted you to reinstall Windows. If you haven't done this yet:

  1. On another Windows PC, download the Windows 11 Media Creation Tool from Microsoft’s website.
  2. Create a bootable USB drive (at least 8GB).
  3. Insert it into your HP laptop and try booting from it (use F9 to select boot device).
  4. Follow the installation process to reinstall Windows.

Let me know it this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
