My HP chromebook will not turn after shutting it down, when I plug in my charger a little light comes on so I know it's still working. I have no idea how to turn my computer back on, the screen is always black.

@Kenzey, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Your HP Chromebook not turning on can be frustrating, but since the charging light comes on, the device is at least getting power. Let's go through some troubleshooting steps to bring it back to life!

Try a Simple Force Restart

Press and hold the power button for 10–15 seconds, then release it.

Wait a few seconds and press the power button again to see if it turns on.

Check for a Display Issue

Press the Brightness Up key several times to see if the screen is just dim.

Try connecting an external monitor using HDMI or USB-C. If the external screen works, the Chromebook display may be faulty.

If you’ve tried all this and still nothing, it could be a battery or motherboard issue, and you might need HP support or a repair. Let me know what happens after these steps! 😊🔧

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
