HP Pavilion CORE i5 7th gen

As of this morning my desktop has been intermittently shutting down. I just went to power it back up and it will not turn on. I checked all of the cords and the lights were the power source goes into the monitor is on but nothing is happening with the monitor itself.

Welcome to the HP Forums, this is a great location to get assistance! I read your post and see that you are getting no power issues on  HP Pavilion Desktop. I would like to help you resolve this issue.

However, I will need a few details to provide an accurate solution,

  • When did this issue start?
  • Did you do any hardware or software changes?

Meanwhile

  1. Disconnect everything from the computer, including the power cord.

  2. With the power cord disconnected, press the power button on the front of the computer.

  3. Plug in the power cord to see if the computer automatically turns on. If the computer does not turn on, continue using these steps.

  4. Swap the computer's power cord with the monitor's power cord, and then test to see if the computer can turn on.

  5. Plug in the power cord and test to see if the computer can turn on. If not, continue using these steps.

  6. Plug a working electronic device into the same outlet to see if the wall outlet has power. Try the computer in a different outlet in order to eliminate the outlet as a possible source of the issue. Test both to see if the wall outlets have power.

  7. Remove all extension cords, power strips, surge protectors and any converters that remove ground. Plug the power cable directly to the wall outlet. Test for power. If this fixes the issue, find the device that is causing the issue and do not use it.

  8. If all of the above steps have been tried and the power supply light remains off, use the steps in the next section.

Click here and refer the document for more assistance.

Let me know how it goes.

Cheers.
