Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

For reasons I don't know I stopped receiving  updates to windows 10. I (erroneously) thought it was because windows 11 was out.

I recovered the system with acronis 2018 (external storage), and later I succeded in getting the system up to date.

But then I discovered the computer will not restart (is this related to updates? I wish I knew).

A SFCscan  found no corruption.

My computer is HP Envy 700-200Z. The  comp. repair tools could not find a solution.

Does anybody know what is the matter?

Please help.

hi

you can be a bit more specific
You say it won't start, but not at all..
it seems to have signs of something, nothing at all, it gets stuck at some point?

What happens is that when I click on the "restart" option  (after clicking on start/power buttons) I can observe some short activitiy  of the computer (on the screen)  but then the display screen  goes  totally black for some while and finally a notification "monitor going to sleep"  appears on the screen.

After that nothing can be done. I try moving the mouse with no result. I have to shut down with the start button on the computer and then start again.

The same thing happens if I click on the sleep option but moving the mouse awakens the computer.

The same as above happens when while working with a program or whatever the notification "restart" appears on the screen and I click on it.

Why does this happen, Please help.
