Hi @Deepan19,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your HP Laptop 15 might be encountering issues with the charging or battery health. Here are a few steps you can try to diagnose and resolve the problem.
Check the Power Adapter:
- Ensure that the power adapter and charging cable are working properly. If possible, try using a different adapter to see if it charges faster.
Battery Health Check:
- In Windows, you can check the battery health using the Battery Report tool. Open Command Prompt as an administrator and type the command:
powercfg /batteryreport - This will generate a report of your battery's health, which you can find in the directory listed in the command output. Review the report for any signs of battery degradation.
Update Battery Drivers:
- Go to Device Manager > Batteries, and update the drivers for both the "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery" and the "Microsoft AC Adapter." You can do this by right-clicking and selecting Update driver.
Perform a Hard Reset:
- Turn off the laptop, unplug it from the charger, and remove the battery (if removable). Hold the power button for 15-20 seconds to discharge any residual power. Reconnect everything and see if the issue is resolved.
Check Power Settings:
- Make sure your laptop’s power settings aren’t set to a power-saving mode that could be restricting the charging speed. Go to Control Panel > Power Options and set it to Balanced or High Performance.
Test with Battery Conservation Mode Off:
- If your laptop has a battery conservation mode (common on HP laptops), it can limit the battery charging speed. Check in the HP Command Center or BIOS settings to see if it’s enabled and try disabling it.
BIOS Update:
- Check if your BIOS is up to date, as outdated BIOS versions can sometimes cause charging issues. You can check for updates on the HP website or use the HP Support Assistant.
Battery Calibration:
- Fully discharge your battery until the laptop shuts off, then charge it to 100% without interruption. This can sometimes recalibrate the battery's charge indicator and improve charging performance.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
