My new HP windows 11 PC goes to sleep and never wakes up. I have to shut down and restart.

@Pops-PC,

Welcome to our HP Community forum!

When a Windows 11 PC fails to wake from Sleep mode, it's usually caused by a driver or power-management setting.

Please try the following steps:

  1. Update BIOS and drivers:

  2. Adjust power settings:

    • Open Control Panel → Power Options → Change plan settings → Change advanced power settings.

    • Expand Sleep → Allow hybrid sleep and set it to Off.

    • Under PCI Express → Link State Power Management, set it to Off.

  3. Check device wake permissions:

    • Open Device Manager → Network adapters → [Your adapter] → Power Management tab.

    • Ensure Allow this device to wake the computer is checked.

  4. Disable Fast Startup:

    • Go to Control Panel → Power Options → Choose what the power buttons do.

    • Click Change settings that are currently unavailable, then uncheck Turn on fast startup and click Save changes.

After applying these steps, restart your PC and test Sleep/Wake again.

If the issue persists, please share your full product name or model number (for example: "HP Pavilion TP01-3xxx") so I can suggest model-specific fixes.

Kind Regards,

Sometimes, sleep mode just does not work properly and all you can do about that is to go into Control Panel (not Settings) and configure the laptop to Shut Down when you turn it off.
